American Numismatic Association, Colorado Springs. GOLDEN COIN RARITIES FROM THE SEA. Sebring, Tom. 2001. VHS Format. Running time: 36 minutes. Color. Presenter: Tom Sebring. Videographer & Producer: David Lisot, Media Resource Corporation. Playable Fine condition. This presentation was given at the Atlanta ANA Convention and is about rare gold coins recovered from Spanish Galleons, Dutch East Indiamen, and American paddle wheel steamers. In this presentation Tom Sebring covers: Why so many shipwrecks are now being salvaged, Why gold is not affected by sea water, an explanation of the Spanish fleet system in the New World, the story of the Real 8 Company and the 1715 Fleet, the 'King's Fifth' and why it encouraged smuggling, wrecks from the East and various Dutch coins, stories of American, British, and French shipwrecks, the story of the Central America shipwreck and the difficulties with the salvage effort because of governments and insurance companies. Lot weight: 0 lbs 9oz. Subject(s): Sunken Treasure.
