Golden Age Odd Size Comic Lot (Various Publishers, 1941 and 1950). This lot includes four miniature size comics, starting with Pocket Comics #1 (Harvey Publications, 1941). This scarce issue features the origin and first appearance of the Black Cat, Cadet Blakey the Spirit of '76, the Red Blazer, the Phantom, Sphinx, the Zebra, Phantom Ranger, British Agent #99, Spin Hawkins, and Satan, Lord of Evil. There is a Hitler appearance in the Satan story. This book has the appearance of a VG/FN, but grades lower due to some brittleness at the extreme top and bottom edges of the spine. It has nice cover gloss and the inside cover is white. This is a very scarce and significant book. Grade: GD/VG. The next book is Speed Comics #15 (Harvey Publications, 1941), which is also a 100-page mini comic with a great cover. The pages are light tan to cream, with a small, clean punch hole on the right side of the front cover (through cover only, not the entire book). The cover is detached at the top staple. Overall, a VG-. The third comic in the lot is Lucky Star #1 by Nation Wide Publications, 1950. This one is a western, with a five-cent cover price. This issue has off-white pages and nice cover gloss. The interior stories are chock-full of racial caricatures. Overall grade is FN. The final book is an interesting one called Captain Atom by Nation Wide Publications, 1950. This book had a five-cent cover price too, and also contains some racial stereotypes. The pages of this one are cream to off-white and the overall grade is FN+. All four books can be yours for one price.
