Beautiful and striking 14kt gold and enamel Native Sons of the Golden West President's badge for Twin peaks Parlor 214. The reverse is engraved "Pres(ented) to Thos. P. Hurson as a token of esteem July 10, 1913". Badge made by Geo. W. Hoffmann, punched on both parts. The Twin Peaks Lodge was located at 4061 24th Street in San Francisco. Hurson was a man of many talents. In 1901 he was working for Lievre, Fricke (importer and commission agents). He wasn't listed in the 1902 SF Directory. In 1910 he was listed as a chemist. In 1912-1919 he worked as a packer. The badge comes with an original 4 x 5" family portrait of Hurson. Provenance: directly from the Hurson family. Choice condition. 1.5 x 2.25". These badges are in high demand because of their tie to original gold rush settlers.
