Gold medal from the 1966 FIFA World Cup, awarded posthumously to England trainer Harold Shepherdson, who served as trainer for 171 England International matches over the course of a thirty-year career. Medal features the FIFA logo to obverse and ''World Championship / Jules Rimet Cup / England 1966'' to reverse. Originally, winner's medals were only bestowed upon the 11 starters, but medals for the rest of the squad such as this one were issued later. 18 kt gold medal is stamped 0.750. Measures 2'' in diameter. Weighs 3.5 ounces or 96 grams. Near fine.
