Gold Inlaid Left Handed Frederick Beesley London Extra-Deluxe African Bolt Action Rifle in 416 Rigby with Scope and Case

Designed in 1911, the 416 Rigby was one of the top dangerous game rounds, suitable for use against African or Indian elephants, big cats, or American bears, and served as the ancestor of the 338 Lapua Magnum, which is an increasingly popular hunting cartridge and dual purpose anti-personnel/anti-material round. Raised blade front sight and quarter rib mounted 50 yard fixed blade rear sight on the barrel, with "FREDERICK BEESLEY (FORMERLY OF St JAMES STREET, LONDON.) AMERSHAM" on top, the scimitar nitro proof and ".416" RIGBY LP/96" on the right side of the chamber and the London "crown/GP" on the right side of the receiver. A set of EAW quick release scope bases are installed on the receiver, carrying a Leupold 1.5-5x scope. The bolt and bolt catch are both reversed with the safety markings on the cocking knob and the serial number on the trigger guard performed in gold inlay and the floor plate engraved "FREDERICK/"AFRICAN"/RIFLE/BEESLEY". Checkered left hand Monte Carlo profile stock, rendered in deluxe English walnut and contoured to match the magnum magazine well, with sling eyes, a black horn forearm tip, blue steel grip cap with ".416/RIGBY" in gold, a golden inscription circle on the underside marked "J*D*M", a raised left-handed comb and cheekpiece, and a leather covered recoil pad. With a brown leather lined, red felt upholstered case, bearing the gilt black leather Frederick Beesley tag inside the lid, and a brown leather sling.

Excellent, with 98% of the original blue finish. Showing hints of a plum patina on the receiver, a spot of bright gray on top of the barrel just behind the address, and light handling marks overall. The stock is excellent with a few pressure dents, a small oval fill (likely factory) just behind the grip cap, extra-sharp checkering and attractive grain. The case is good with some scuffing and shipping labels applied to the exterior. Optics are crisp and clear, with a few scuffs on the exterior. Mechanically excellent.
