English, ca 1870. An 18K gold hunting style pocket watch with engine turned case struck for London, 1869-70, owner's initials on cover. Cuvette inscribed Polack & Murray/London & Calcutta. White enamel dial signed James Murray/Royal Exchange/London/5096, with sunk subsidiary dial and Roman chapter ring. Three-quarter plate, key wind, key set. Has key; case approximately 1.75" diameter.

Condition: James Murray, born 1833, was a well known watchmaker and the son of the famous chronometer maker James Murray. He worked at the Royal Exchange from 1847 until 1867 when he moved to Calcutta, India.

Not currently running; minute hand replaced, dial with hairline. We do not guarantee working order of watches.
