Gold Hill,NV - Storey County - 1865 - Statement and Reports Concerning Mines near Gold Hill :
This pamphlet includes a statement and reports on the Uncle Sam Senior and Gold Canyon Silver Lodes near Gold Hill, Nevada. This document was published in Boston by Alfred Mudge & Son, 34 School Street. The statement discusses the rich ore bodies located around the Gold Hill area, “The property is situated in the State of Nevada, and within the limits of the city of Gold Hill, and comprises a portion of what is widely known as the Comstock Lode, which forms the great, distinctive and attractive feature of this new and rapidly growing state. The well known mines, Gould & Curry, Chollar, Savage, Yellow Jacket, and many others, are in the immediate vicinity of this property…The mines above mentioned…have recently been pronounced by the most scientific engineers and chemists in this country to be unsurpassed in richness, and to be the most valuable ever discovered”. This initial statement was written by S. A. Chapin. This pamphlet, full of reports of individuals, attests to the value of the Uncle Sam Senior and Gold Canyon Silver Lodes. Many of the reports explain why the property discussed in the pamphlet is part of the Comstock Lode. The mining engineers Adelberg & Raymond mention in the report that there is an accompanying map, but the map is not included.
