Constructed in the "book" style, with a pair of hardwood covers and a leather backed spine, measuring 10 1/2 inches tall, 8 1/2 inches wide, and 2 1/2 inches thick. The back cover is fitted with a set of four hardwood feet, with gilt brass fittings with raised scroll designs on the latch and reinforcing the corners of the cover. In the center of the cover is a finely engraved brass inlay of the family crest of Samuel Colt; featuring a running horse clenching a broken spear in its teeth above a shield bearing 3 running horses, and a banner marked "VINCIT QUI PATITUR" (he who endures, conquers). Inside the book is 15 pages suitable for mounting photographs. None are included; notes from the consignor state that this album was once part of the Colt family collection, and the contents were dismounted for individual sale at some point in the past.
