Large framed original print of one of Elko County's original town sites, known as the "Gold Circle," which became the Gold Mining town of Midas. This unique drawing is done with ink on linen. Street names are indicated, along with civil quadrant indications. The drawing is scaled at "100 feet per inch." There is what appears to be a hand-drawn yellow line which blocks out a specific town section, and has the block legs in civil length dimensions on some of the sections. There are some other curious pencil marks around the drawing, and their intent is unknown. There is a lightly printed "Title Quadrant And Trust Co Elko Nevada" just above the North Arrow indication. Gold was discovered in 1907, and the "Midas District" (or Gold Circle) followed shortly after. Mining continued until the late 1940s. Midas was situated about 45 miles north of present-day Battle Mountain. Frame measures 25.5" x 5.5". professionally framed, with wood backing. - Jacobitz Collection -60197
