Godfather II Vito Corleone (Robert De Niro) Jim Westbrook Silkscreen
A magnificent piece of movie history art: showing the determination on the young Vito Corleone' (Robert DeNiro) as he makes his name by killing the "old Don" of the neighborhood in "The Godfather Part 2" (1974). You can just make out the blinking light bulb, and the cloth that he's wrapped around his gun to silence the noise and that flames up after he fires it. If you see a resemblance between De Niro's pose and expression as the young Corleone, and that of another iconic moment, De Niro as Travis Bickle in "Taxi Driver (1976), pointing a gun at his mirror and shouting: "You talkin' to ME?!", you'd be right. It's been said that De Niro believed that his character of Bickle would have watched "The Godfather Part 2" many times, and felt himself very much a young Corleone, righting the wrongs of the "scum" in the streets which needed to be "cleaned up". This is a Limited Edition silkscreen by Jim Westbrook (number 3 of 25). It is signed by the artist, who also numbered it, and titled it: "DeNiro". Comes professionally framed and matted. (Frame approx. 30.5"x26.5")
