Glorious Betsy (Warner Brothers, 1928). Lobby Card Set Glorious Betsy (Warner Brothers, 1928).
Glorious Betsy (Warner Brothers, 1928). Lobby Card Set of 8 (11" X 14"). Nominated for an Academy Award for Screenplay Adaptation, this was the second onscreen pairing of Dolores Costello and Conrad Nagel released in 1928. Though a copy of this period film resides in the Library of Congress, its sound discs are lost. These cards contain some beautiful images, particularly of Costello, who in one image bears some resemblance to her granddaughter, Drew Barrymore. Most of the cards are in great shape, with only pinholes and minor border toning. All of the cards appear to have been bent in the same place at one point, causing a fine line of cracking in the color. One card has a tear that reaches from the lower border into the image area. Dolores Costello's portrait card has two small tears, some edge and corner wear, more significant toning, a small stain and a fairly deep but small scratch. The image is untouched, however, and is one of the most strikingly beautiful in this set. Were it not for this card's defects, this would be a Very Fine+ set. Overall grade for the set is Very Fine.
