Impressive archive of material related to Swanson and her career, including an ALS signed “Gloria,” and six DSs signed “Gloria Swanson,” as well as a large quantity of over 120 pieces of related correspondence and paperwork, dated 1942–1943. The ALS is dated 1943 and concerns a theatrical production, in part: “Last week here Fred Stone made the record of the season to date…we are a great success at last. Tomorrow is a sold out matinee which is quite unusual. Documents include: a loan agreement to fund a theatrical production, signed by Swanson and Francis Lederer; a DBA document filing for a company named Three Curtains Associates, signed by Swanson and Lederer; an AGVA employment contract for Swanson to appear in Arthur Wing Pinero’s sketch entitled the ‘Playgoer,’ signed twice by Swanson; a financial document related to a production, signed by Swanson and Lederer; a Theatrical Wardrobe Attendants Union contract, signed by Swanson and Lederer; and a legal document signed by Swanson. The balance of the archive consists of letters, telegrams, and documents (none signed by Swanson), concerning representation, finances, legal issues, theatre productions, and business activities. In overall fine condition.
