Glenn Gould Autograph Letter Signed "Glenn". Four pages, 5.75" x 8.25", Palace Hotel Lucerne letterhead, September 5, no year, to journalist and personal friend Gladys Shenner. It reads in part: "...I arrived in Lucerne last Sunday afternoon by which time my fever was on the way up and the cold had arrived full force. Nevertheless the concert on Monday was a huge success - much the finest Bach D - I've done and Karajan and the Philharmonia were just superb...I have been speculating...whether you are already on Onassis' yacht exchanging 'santes' with Sir Winston...I feel quite sure that the seductive allurements of the Riviera set are being handled expertly and discriminately...". Gould starts the letter in pen, however switches to pencil on the second line of the second page. An old paper clip impression and folds as expected. Very good condition. Gould signatures are rare and valuable. A Wall Street Journal article published August 29, 2006 stated that "Gouldiana has become more expensive than memorabilia of any other 20th-century pianist, dealers say. A signed Gould photo in good condition can fetch up to $5,000, compared with about $700 for one featuring the pianist Arthur Rubinstein."
