Glarus. 40-Batzen (Thaler) 1847, KM-20, issued for the shooting festival, a rarity grading Choice XF with reflective luster, sharp strike and light gold toning. It's a beauty. This Germanic area of Switzerland was founded (at the Sackingen Abbey near Basel) in the 9th century by an Irish monk named Saint Fridolin, whose frocked image is part of the canton's coat of arms--and appears in the center of this coin's obverse.
From the Blue Ridge Collection

Shipping: Coin/Currency (view shipping information)
