This oil painting was created by Italian artist Giuseppe Giardiello and depicts one of his characteristic sceneries, which would be idyllic landscapes in southern Italy, mostly Naples or Capri. A woman dressed in traditional cloths is driving her donkeys along an alleyway. The high walls are decorated with flowers. A palm tree rises into the blue sky with a dome in the background. The whole composition is characterized by the use of bright and light colours.



The oil painting is signed lower right ‘G. Giardiello’ and is in an age-appropriate condition indicating few signs of age and use. There are some touch ups in the area of the sky and a small restoration on the donkey’s neck. The frame shows slight traces of use as well with minor loss of material in the lower right. The stretcher frame measures 53 x 31.5 cm. The overall dimensions framed are 65 x 44 cm. (cru)
