Girl Skipping Rope Mechanical Bank - Pink made by J. & E. Stevens Co., Cromwell, CT, designed by James H. Bowen, circa 1890. The coin is inserted in the squirrel’s paws, and a key winds the mechanism. When the lever located next to the girl’s left foot is tripped, the rope rotates and the girl moves up and down as she kicks her legs and turns her head. The coin is deposited. This exceptional example is one of the most complex and desirable of clockwork banks. From the William Esser Collection.

Condition: Some over painting touch-up. Working.
