Italian philosopher and politician (1875–1944) who established his own system of philosophy, actual idealism. ALS in Italian, signed “Sen. Giovanni Gentile, Vice pres dello Universita Bocconi,” two pages, 6.75 x 8.75, Senato del Regno letterhead, September 23, 1940. Letter to General Carlo Favagrossa, in part (translated): “Being aware of the delicate and important matters entrusted to you, I would not dare to ask you for a favor, were it not for the advancement of an institute of national importance. It has become one of my concerns under order of il Duce, who has its future very much at heart. I am talking about the Bocconi University of Milan. Recently, the INCET of Turin, for the third time, has made a request to the Interprovincial Commission for an allotment of 3.9 tons of copper from the Installazioni Elettriche Riunite of Rome. This material is needed to complete the conduits which provide illumination for the new building of the above-mentioned Bocconi University. The request in question is accompanied by the necessary document submitted by the Milan municipality.” Central vertical and horizontal folds, an office stamp and notations, staple holes and a rusty paperclip mark to upper left corner, otherwise fine condition. Accompanied by a full translation.
