Giovanni Boccaccio, The Decameron ( New York: Boni and Liveright, 1925), English translation by John Payne, special first edition limited to 12 sets, in two volumes, 374 and 355 pages, respectively, top gilt edge, other edges untrimmed, heavily illustrated by Clara Tice with original etchings and special drawings not included in the regular edition of 2000 numbered copies, marbled endpapers, red-leather binding with gold lettering and decorations, 4to (7.25” x 10.25”). The Decameron is a medieval allegorical collection of 100 novellas by Italian author Giovanni Boccaccio (1313-1375), who borrowed the plots for his tales from earlier works written in Europe, the Middle East, and Asia. This two-volume edition, limited to only 12 sets, is a rare one indeed. Both volumes are in very good condition with a minimal amount of wear on the leather bindings; the endpapers have a minimal amount of acidification, and the pages have yellowed slightly.

Shipping: Books & Catalogs (view shipping information)
