This gilt Tibetan cult bronze figure represents Buddha Shakyamuni. He is rendered in deep meditation in padmâsana on a lotus throne with large flowers in relief. The soles of his feet are turned upwards and his left hand is placed in his lap. The open palm is facing upwards and a round bowl is placed in it. His right hand, lying on his shin, forms the bhûmisparsa mudra, the gesture of touching the earth. His fingers point towards the earth and with this gesture he calls on the earth to bear witness to the truth of his words.

The garment is wrapped over his left shoulder and the body of the enlightened one is covered, except the right shoulder. Buddha has a meditative, serene expression and his face is crowned by the precision elaborated curls. Deep neck wrinkles, long earlobes and the urna in the middle of the forehead illustrate his grandeur. The figure is sealed by a base plate with double vajra symbol.

The bronze figure is in good condition with slight signs of age and wear. The gilding is abraded in some places and minimal notches are visible there and there. The bronze measures 20 cm in height, 13.5 cm in width and 9 cm in depth.
