This partly gilt copper bronze figure from Tibet represents Buddha Shakyamuni. He is seated on a double lotus throne, with leaves in relief, in the padmâsana position. In this posture with both soles of his feet turned upwards and his left hand is hereby placed in his lap with the open palm facing upwards. His right hand, lying on his knee, forms the bhûmisparsa mudra, the gesture of touching the earth. His palm is turned inward and his fingers point towards the earth. With this gesture, Buddha calls on the earth to bear witness to the truth of his words.

The elegant garment shows a décor of engraved tendrils and ornate seams. It clothed the body of the enlightened and leaves the left shoulder bare. Buddha has a meditative expression and his face is accentuated by cold painting. The individual curls are precisely crafted and crowned by an usnisha with a small golden ketumala. Beautiful natural patina also provides a special look.

The bronze figure is in good condition with slight signs of age and wear. The gilding is abraded in some places and minimal hairline scratches are seen here and there on the surface. The figure is sealed with a base plate with double vajra symbol and measures 21 cm in height, 13.5 cm in width and 11.5 cm in depth.
