Comparable pieces can be found in the British Museum (accession no. 1913,0418.2), in the Palace Museum in Beijing (accession no. 05067311) and at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London (accession no. M.436-1936) – particularly regarding the position of the figure and the details of the falling scarves over the base.



Buddha Amitayus

The Buddha Amitayus is also known as the Buddha of ‘Boundless Life’ and is an emanation of Amitabha. His body is covered with precious jewelry. The hands are meditative folded in his lap and a vase-like vessel, which is filled with Ambroisa, can be found therein.



Condition: The bronze figure is in fair condition consistent with age. The vessel is missing an the height measures 17.5 cm.
