Gillette Safety Razor Company - Specimen (Delaware) A Specimen in blue and black. At top center is a vignette of an early Safety Razor. King Gillette was granted his patent for the safety razor in 1904. Production of the Gillette safety razor and blade began when the company started operations in South Boston. Sales grew steadily. During World War I the United States government issued Gillette Safety Razors to the entire armed forces. By the end of the war some 3.5 million razors and 32 million blades had been placed in the hands of the military, converting the country to the use of the safety razor. This is a great Specimen with an unusual vignette from a company which became a household name, revolutionized the male morning ritual and now stands as one of the most widely recognized brand names in the world. There are a couple of small punch cancellations. Extremely Fine. Important notice: We expect to be auctioning lots at the rate of 200-250 per hour. On occasion eBay live bid software cannot keep up with the pace of the auctions where 4-5 lots per minute can hammer down, so we recommend that you place a realistic absentee bid now as insurance to avoid disappointment. Also please note that all Heritage/CAA lots purchased through eBay Live carry a 20% Buyer's Premium. Please make sure you read the Terms and Conditions.
