This gilded bronze Buddha statue dates back to the 17th century and was made in Thailand. Buddha is shown in the upright samabhanga stand and mounted on a wooden base. His right hand is raised and forms the abhaya mudra with the palm facing forward and upward pointing fingers. This mudra is also known as gesture of fearlessness and granting protection. The left hand shows the lola hasta mudra.

Buddha wears a simple monk's robe with a long belt that emphasizes his waist. The face has a peaceful expression with finely crafted features, a slight smile, eyes half-closed and arched eyebrows. The long earlobes, his hair with round curls and the bud-shaped Ketumala underline his beauty.

Figure is in good condition with age related signs of wear. A breaking point on the right hand and slight cracks as well as some gold wear are visible. The height without base measures 21 cm, the width is 7 cm and the depth 4 cm. With pedestal the height measures 25.5 cm. (lvp)
