The world, unfortunately, was not yet ready for graphic novels. Three years later, Kane's work was reprinted as a serial in Marvel's black and white <B>Savage Sword,</B></I> where it had to be reformatted for the magazine page. These fourteen pages are mostly photostats in which the art of the paperback is rearranged for the new publication. There is some original art here, since Kane drew new panels (six times in this group of pages) or extended existing ones (seven times) as part of the rearranging process. This is a fascinating glimpse of the intersection of the creative and production processes. Stats are yellowing but original art sections are much whiter. There are marginal blue-pencil notes throughout these 17" x 23" pages, which have an approximate 13" x 19" live art area. <B>Estimate: $300-up</B> </FONT></TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE></TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE><BR><!--<a name="PricesRealized"></a> <table width="100%" border="0" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0" bgcolor="#000000"> <tr> <td width="100%"> <table width="100%" border="0" cellspacing="1" cellpadding="3"> <tr> <td width="100%" bgcolor="#79735C"> <a name="PR"> <font face="arial" size="3" color="#FFFFFF"> <b>Previous Prices from Heritage Auctions</b> </td> </tr> <tr> <td bgcolor="#F6F6ED"> No Prior Data Recorded </td> </tr> <tr> <td bgcolor="#FFFFFF"> <font face="arial" size="1""> PLEASE NOTE: All prices realized reflect the final hammer price PLUS the buyer's premium in auctions that charge a buyer's premium.
