American actor (1913–1978) who won the 1969 Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his memorable role in They Shoot Horses, Don’t They? Plagued by increasingly acute alcoholism, Young killed himself and his fifth wife in a murder-suicide just three weeks after their marriage. Vintage matte-finish 11 x 14 publicity portrait of Young, signed and inscribed in fountain pen, “Good luck, Jerry, Gig Young.” Reverse bears a Welbourne–Warner Bros. copyright stamp. In fine condition.
