Secretary of the Navy under Lincoln and Johnson (1802–1878). Partly-printed DS, one page, 15.75 x 19.75, March 24, 1868. Appointment of George Baldy to the position of “Ensign in the Navy.” Signed at the conclusion by Secretary of the Navy Welles, and also bearing a stamped Andrew Jackson signature. Creasing and wear to right edge, some scattered light toning and rippling, as well as some light creasing, otherwise fine condition. The blue seal is worn, but intact.
