<B>Gibert de Montreuil: <I>Roman De La Violette, Ou De Gerard de Nevers...</B></I></B></I> Edited from two manuscripts in the Royal Library by Francisque Michel. (Paris: Chez Silvestre, Libraire, 1834), first edition, lxiv, 334 pages, later 19th century red half-leather with gilt titles and marbled boards, compartments of the spine finely tooled in gilt, 8vo (6.25" x 9.5"). Top edge gilt. Marbled endpapers. Two limitation pages, the second of which is number 1. Engravings of manuscript facsimiles in various states on vellum and paper, some hand-colored. This lengthy poem tells the story of Lady Euriant, who vindicates her slandered virtue after many trials and tribulations. The book is in about very good condition, with some rubbing to the boards. The inner text is square, tight, and clean, with minimal scattered foxing and mild age-toning.
