ALS, signed "Puccini" in the cramped right margin, one page on a 5.5 x 3.5 postcard, June 6, 1896. Letter to composer Carlo Clausetti of the Ricordi music publishing firm in Naples. Puccini announces his departure for Torre del Lago. He is without obligation, Dio mi scampi [God forbid] to me, and could very well be with the "double animal" [dell'animale doppio]. He adds that he did not know that Clausetti's uncle was a composer of operas. In a few days he will start Tosca [A giorni incomincio Tosca]. In fine condition, with scattered light foxing.
