ALS in Italian, signed “G. Puccini,” one page, 6.25 x 9.75, personal letterhead, February 18, 1910. Letter to Mr. Rocca at the Grand Theater of Montpellier, France. In full (translated): “I thank you for the news regarding Manon [his famous opera Manon Lescaut] and I am delighted of your success. Mr. Ricordi will be in Milan in the month of April.” Reverse bears an address panel in Puccini’s hand. In very good condition, with horizontal folds, scattered toning, mainly to edges, and rough vertical edges. Manon Lescaut premiered in Paris in 1910. It was an immense success both with the audience and the critics and established Puccini as a foremost opera composer.
