Getchell brought in his friend George Wingfield as partner. After about two years of prospecting Getchell turned to Bernard Baruch for financing. Production began in 1937 and the first bullion was poured in 1938. The company paid more than $3 million in dividends from 1939-44. During WWII it was the largest gold producer in Nevada. In 1961 the Getchell was taken over by Goldfield Consolidated. Today the Getchell is still one of the great mines of Nevada.
