Germany, Nuremberg, c. 1750-1770, a fine boxed scales with eight square knob handled brass weights, all with coin designs by the knobs. Weight designs are cross of Jerusalem, cross pontecee, Imperial orb and St. Ladislaus. For the doubloon, 1/2 to 2 pistols, gold guldens and gold ducats Inscription inside lid "RECVT ABGEZOGEN" = Properly Adjusted. The round pans are of copper, the fine beam is of steel. The pans are hall-marked. The red painted wooden box has three inlaid painted artistic scenes of a musician, two men and a woman strolling by a tree and another partial musician. This style of decoration which is contemporary to the manufacture of the box is very seldom seen. Dim: 15.5 x 6.4 x 2.3 cm. With two hook hinges. Complete and choice.    $1500
