Germanic two-handed fighting sword circa mid to late 16th century, 68” overall, 51” blade showing two parrying lugs. Straight quillons, two large side rings, large bulbous pommel, old leather-wrapped handle. The blade, hilt,and pommel all show correct forging lamination with elongated slag inclusion in the metal. This sword was produced by the early Blooming process of forging and is original to the period. The condition is good to very good and shows light cleaning. We have had the metal and sword examined by a metallurgical expert. There are some small battle chips on the edges. Est: $4,000 - $8,000
