Germanic Flintlock pistol signed in silver on barrel "Michael Bayer". The pistol shows ornate brass mounts that were gold gilted and blued barrel with nicely carved and molded stock. The pistol measures 13" overall with7-1/4" barrel of approx 52 caliber smooth bore. The barrel shows 50-80% toning original blue with just some normal spotting and aging. The lock shows most of its original bright polish with some light aging. The stock is very good plus with a light coating of varnish and some minor restoration. The mounts show a stag on trigger guard surrounded by deep scrolls and portrait of stag and doe on butt surroundedwith forest and scroll scenes. The side plate shows a hunting dog chasing game bird. There is a small break left front of the stock and loss of a small piece of horn in that area. In its original Flintlock statewith proper small parts. Michael Bayer was a very well known and highly regarded maker who made fine arms on commission for Europe's Royal houses. Est.;$1,750-$3,500.
