Germanic Flintlock pistol, circa 1700-1750 with ornate cast brass mounts that are gold gilted and early banana shaped lock. The butt cap shows a stylized lion head and beautiful side plate with dolphins, scrolls,grotesque face. The plaque at wrist shows a beast with mans features and scrolls. The pistol is in an original good to very good condition showing a brown patina finish on the lock and barrel with some minor pinprickpitting. The stock is nicely carved and molded and remains in very good condition. The mounts are sharp and show strong traces of gold gilt. The pistol measures 15-1/4" overall, the barrel measures 9-1/2" with aringed canon style muzzle in 60 caliber. The top jaw and screw are excellent replacements. The stock is very good plus with some small losses and minor imperfections. A handsome pistol withinteresting butt cap. Est.;$1,750-$3,500.
