German pre-war sporting rifle on 98 mauser action, by famous European maker “Wilh. Brenneke, Leipzig”, in 7.64 caliber, with matching German claw-mounted scope by which is inscribed with serial number and caliberof rifle, scope marked “Ajack”. The rifle shows a 28” round barrel, is 48” overall, half-stocked in straight grain walnut, nicely checkered at the grip, double-triggers, case hardened action, mounts for narrow Europeantype sling, quick release floor-plate action, lightly scroll engraved, triggerguard chiseled with initials MWR. The rifle shows a horn forend cap, and English type leather-covered pad. The stock measures13-1/2” to the end of the wood, 14-5/8” to the end of the pad. The gun is numbered “41790”, scope matching. The rifle also shows folding rear sight, engraved caliber information at breech, and the high qualitythis revolutionary European rifle maker was noted for.
