German marked export Bowie knife, probably for Mexico or South America, mid to late 19th century showing bone grip, lion pommel with fancy guard, silver over brass mounts in original scabbard. The knife measures 17-1/4” overall with 15-3/4” blade. The blade is marked “Victoria” with wreath and “Ghurhuff, Gevelsberg” and “Finest Steel Guaranteed” in Spanish, serial #5049. The blade is in good condition with some slight pitting, normalaging, scabbard is very good, mounts show an uncleaned patina. German blades were highly regarded throughout the world, and Mexico was a great customer to German in the late 19th and early 20th century. Est: $500 - $1,000
