German double rifle signed “P. Bessel & Son, Sagan” (German), 9.3x74 caliber. Blue and case hardened finish, select wood stocks, claw mounted Carl Zeiss Zieomar scope, serial #6508. The rifle shows Krupp Steel barrels,Suhl proofs of the smokeless prewar era. The rifle shows auto-ejectors, double adjustable triggers, crossbolt lock, horn triggerguard, and other classic prewar German motifs. The barrels retain 80-90% original blue that isevenly thinning and toning. The action shows 30-50% case hardening drifting to silvery grey. The stocks have been professionally replaced and are in fine to excellent condition. The gun shows a rounded pistolgrip, monte carlo type cheekpiece, narrow sling swivels for European sling, hard-rubber buttplate. The stock measures 13-7/8” to the end of the wood, 14-5/8” to the end of the hard rubber recoil pad. The wood is of select burl walnut, finely checkered, well made, and in keeping with a fine European styling by a master gunsmith. The action is tight, the bores near excellent.
