This lot consists of six 10.5cm (4 1/4 inch diameter) shell casings contained in a basket weave transit case constructed of wood and metal with metal lids. Side of case is stamped "Heeres Munition" and "Gesamtgew 2 Hkg" (Total Weight) One lid is stenciled "Le F.H18". The 10.5 cm leF. H. 18 (German: leichte Feldhaubitze "light field howitzer") is a German light howitzer used in World War II and the standard artillery piece of the Wehrmacht, adopted for service in 1935 and used by all divisions and artillery battalions. From 1935 to the end of the war, 11,848 were produced. All steel shells are dated 1940 with makers codes, eagle/swastika waffenamts. Shells are overall very good, no dents, some surface rust on the insides. The transit case is sound but most of the leather straps for the lids have dried out and snapped. Still would make a great display.
