German WW1 Pickelhaube (Bavaria)
This helmet features a infantry wappen (front plate) with the Bavarian coat of arms, over the kingdoms motto, In Treue Fest, German for "steadfast in loyalty." It also has correct kokarden (cockades) on both sides, blue/white Bavarian State kokarden and Reichs (black/red/white). Interior of the Pickelhaube is in very good condition, exhibiting moderate use. It has a correct brown leather liner, complete with securing tie on the top. The soldiers name is written in ink on the liner, (feint) the rear skirt is stamped in ink "I.R. 94"and below that "I.R. 18" stenciled in white paint, also has a manufacturers ink stamp rondel, though we cannot read it due to fading. The metal fittings have oxidized. It is common knowledge that many early helmets had the metal trim heavily oxidized due to exposure to Chlorine Gas. Overall very good condition.
