German Two-Handed Sword
The two-handed sword is commonly associated with the German and Swiss Landsknecht mercenaries of the 16th Century. The sword has a 54 1/4" blade, etched down the sides with dot-backed vine patterns, and a 6 1/4" extended ricasso that allows the sword to be gripped below the quillions for use at close quarters. The sword has an extended cruciform iron hilt with side ring. The grip is wrapped with wire and has a large oval pommel with engraved sides with figural designs.
