Mintmaster GK &#40;Georg Kruckenberger, 1637-1640&#41;. Wilhelm V, 1627-1637. Crowned lion facing left, date in field to right and GK below. Reverse Tree in storm, sun above with Hebrew &#34;JEHOVAH&#34;. Sharply struck with considerable original mint luster. Rare. <B>NGC graded AU-55.</B> <BR><BR>The term, &#34;Goldgulden&#34; was used well before the term, &#34;Ducat&#34;. The goldgulden was a German term used to describe a gold coin equivalent to the gold florins of Venice and the Netherlands. Over time, the coins were debased in fineness, and less trusted by the merchants. This brought about the rise of the ducat.
