German Military Dreyse System Needle Fire Military Rifle with Scarce Sliding Bayonet
The left rear side of the receiver is marked with a spread winged eagle over "SPANDAU", with the reverse having "1857" in large font followed by a small "1861". "Stahl" is stamped on the barrel behind the 5 leaf rear sight (4 are folding leafs), with crown/letter proofs on right side. A steel sliding bayonet is retained beneath the muzzle. The three barrel bands and trigger guard are brass. Serial number on receiver (734) with the barrel bands and barrel numbered "2251" and the buttplate numbered "7341".

Condition: Very good. The barrel has a smooth dark brown patina with some minor pitting near the muzzle and the receiver has a mottled brown patina. The brass has an even patina with fine surface scratches. The stock is fine with some minor dings and scratches and pressure marks, along with some speckling of white on the right side and a gouge on the left flat. Action is fine.
