German Cross in Gold Engraved to a U-Boat Machinist U-Boat War Badge Lapel Pin and 1934 Dated Identification Card for a SS Man

1) German Cross in Gold, 2 1/2 inches wide, with the inscription "Ob. Masch. Heinrich Dammeier/U-129/12.2.1944" on the rear. Obermaschinist (later Stabsobermaschinist) Heinrich Friedrich Christoph Dammeier was a highly decorated mechanic in the Kriegsmarine, having earned the Spanish Cross with Swords, Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross, the Sudetenland Medal and the U-Boat War Badge. U-129, a Type IXC U-boat, chiefly operated on long-distance patrols out of France striking the South Atlantic, the American East Coast, and as deep as the Gulf of Mexico for over 143,000 tons of shipping sunk. With information on Dammeier, and copies of 4 of his award citations. 2) A small U-Boat War Badge lapel pin, gilt finished, with no makers marks. 3) Identification card for an SS-Mann named Walther Ifflaender, dated 1 March 1934, with Himmler signature on the back. The card lists Ifflaender as born in Allenburg, 23 March 1915. No other information could be found.

1) Fair. An unknown black substance, possibly a protective lacquer, has been applied to the sunburst, along with some mild handling marks overall. 2) Good, with some corrosion on the back of the body. 3) Very good, with some light stains and creases. The signatures and markings all remain legible.
