Five items: a German hardcover limited edition of Buddenbrooks, Vol. II, published in 1922, numbered 142/150, signed on the colophon in pencil by Thomas Mann; a printed poem entitled ‘An die Kunstler (To the Artists),’ limited issue of 150 copies, signed and inscribed in red ink by Rudolf Binding to fellow poet Rudolf Alexander Schroder; an ANS in pencil by Rudolf Binding, signed “Rlf. B,” in full (translated): “Of course I forgot to say that nightly, every night, I read your poems here. The childhood book has already been ‘consumed’ with pleasure”; a reproduction on Japanese kozo fiber paper of Binding’s handwritten poem ‘Schlaf ein, O Mond,’ ending, “Easter 1938. Completed for E. J,” with a pencil notation on the cover, signed “E. J.” (probably Ernst Junger), in full: “With gratitude and greetings from E. J. Kusnacht 1938”; and a four-page photocopy of Binding’s handwritten speech, a panegyric in honor of Schroder in 1938. In overall fine condition, with some edgewear and chipping to the book’s spine.
