German 1916 Pattern Stahlhelm with Double SS Decals and Scarce RZM/SS Internal Stamping

Originally introduced for the First World War, the Stahlhelm replaced the pickelhaub as the signature helmet of Germany, and the 1916 pattern and it?s descendants would be trendsetters in 20th Century helmet design. This particular example survived the Great War and fell into the hands of the Nazi Party's Reichzeugmeisterei (RZM, Reich's Quartermaster Office) and was modified to serve their ends. The signature "horn" vents have been deleted and a black paint finish applied overall, with the red, white and black "swastika" party shield decal applied on the left side and the black and silver SS rune shield decal on the right. Additionally, heavy metal stamping has been applied to the interior, with the SS runes on the underside on the left, and the "RZ/M" circular logo on the underside of the right.

Very good, with flaking of the paint and areas of rough brown patina. The inner liner and chinstrap are absent, and the vents have been opened as noted above. The decals are both in very good shape, with minimal scuffs and loss.
