German Model 1906 Navy Luger Semi-Automatic Pistol, 1st Issue, #279a, 9mm, 6'' barrel, blue finish, straw small parts, factory checkered walnut grips, with non-matching German Navy magazine. Two-position rear sight, ''Gesichert'' marked in original lower position and remaining unaltered, flat checkered toggles, military crown-''M'' proofmarks, with grip safety. Late short frame with stock lug, wide trigger, and narrow triggerguard. Chamber area blank, toggle area marked DWM, blued extractor marked ''Geladen''. Condition is very good to near fine retaining approx. 92% original finish, with areas of light pitting along the left side frame flat. Grips show light flattening. Mismatched sideplate. Frame area beneath grip lightly import marked. Action is crisp, bore is good with light frosting in grooves. A seldem-seen unmodified early Navy pistol. Est.: $2.500-$3,500. (C&R)
