This Gerity Products Carvette Roast Holder is unusual and classic! Made of high-quality silverplate, it is 10 inches long, with a 3 ½-inch wide grip handle. It comes in its original box. It is circa 1940s-1950s.<p>

This piece is quite intricate in its construction. The handle grip is marked for individual fingers when gripped. The shank is 3 ½ inches long, to hold the roast firmly in place: it is 5/8 inches wide and 3/8 inches thick. A 2 5/8-inch x 2-inch oval disk halfway down the shank helps balance the holder when in use. The double prong has the thick metal at the bottom of the shank, with heavy gauge prongs tipped with rubber for easy insertion into the meat being carved.<p>

Gerity Products, Incorporated, based in Toledo, Ohio, made silver and silverplated serving implements for the dinner table as well as an array of other products, including hood ornaments for automobiles, eye wash cups, candle snuffers, and four-leaf clovers electroplated in various metals! Gerity is listed as a maker of custom-plated tableware established in 1898.<p>

The tableware products, ranging from salad serving fork and spoon to the carving implements such as this, are not easily found these days. Gerity was known for its ability to create 18th century English Georgian design tableware, by which this roast holder certainly appears to have been inspired.
