TLS signed “Jerry,” one page, 8 x 10.5, Congress of the United States, Office of the Minority Leader, House of Representatives letterhead, June 22, 1972. Letter to the Hon. Earl B. Ruth, a Republican congressman from North Carolina, in part: "Just a note as I leave for a two week trip to China. I am most grateful for your help on the crucial vote on the 'previous question' during the consideration of the President's revenue sharing legislation. Your 'aye' vote was most important to our success in this key proposal in the President's domestic legislative program." In fine condition, with a few light stains. Building upon President Nixon’s famous trip to the People’s Republic of China in February, Gerald R. Ford and Congressman Hale Boggs of Louisiana visited and met with Premier Chou En-lai from June 23–July 7, 1972.
