Uncommon ALS signed “Jerry Ford,” one page, 6.25 x 8.5, personal letterhead, December 30, 1982. Letter to Helen Copley, head of The Copley Press, in part: “You were most thoughtful to remember me at Christmastime with the beautiful book—The Colorful Butterfield Across Arizona [sic]. I am deeply grateful. Betty & I have had the family with us at Vail where the snow and skiing have been super. Denver has been snowed under, but it has finally solved its logistical problems. We hope you and the family had a very Happy New Year.” In fine condition. Accompanied by the original mailing envelope bearing a pre-printed free frank, and a softcover copy of The Butterfield Overland Stage Across Arizona. A desirable, seldom-seen format of the 38th president. Helen Copley was head of San Diego’s Union Tribune Publishing Company and the chairman and CEO of the Copley Press, a publisher and newspaper chain comprising 15 daily and 32 weekly publications.
