Pink pass for admission to the gallery of the House of Representatives during the 93rd Congress, December 6, 1973, signed in black felt tip, “Gerald Ford.” Double-matted with an unsigned House of Representatives pass for Ford’s first State of the Union Address in 1975, two campaign buttons, a print of the title page for the address, and a photo of the president to an overall size of 26 x 14. In fine condition. With the vice presidency recently vacated by Spiro Agnew’s resignation, it was on December 6, 1973—the day of this signed ticket—that the House of Representatives voted to confirm Ford’s nomination. One hour after this vote, Ford was sworn in as vice president before a joint session of Congress, President Nixon, his cabinet, the entire Supreme Court, and other officials. An excellent format representing one step along Ford’s unexpected path to the White House.
